The Speed Limits of Cars in Vietnam You Should Know Before Renting a Car
Through our tracking app, we have found that many customers—primarily foreigners—tend to exceed the speed limits in Vietnam during their trips. While speed cameras are on most roads, police officers do not constantly update traffic violations in real-time. In some cases, tickets or fines are issued 1 to 3 months after the violation occurs.
The challenge? Many of our customers have not been in Vietnam for more than a month, making handling these fines difficult. That is why we must hold a security deposit when customers exceed speed limits during their rental period. Unfortunately, this often leads to frustration, which we understand entirely.
To avoid this, knowing the speed limits in Vietnam before renting a car—whether from Mirencar or any other rental company is crucial. Starting January 1, 2025, the Vietnamese government will introduce higher fines for traffic violations and may even deduct points from your driver’s license.
We always want you to have a safe and enjoyable trip in Vietnam, so please read this guide carefully to ensure a smooth driving experience.
